| So, christmas is over, food is eaten, family is visited, kyle is tired.
Kinda had a crazy year. Though i guess it started rather slowly. January-May i attended a Technical school in Slidell. Did not really do much in the social realm during my schooling, then summer came round. I was wonderin what i was to do with my life, didn't really have much direction, i mean i knew i liked working on computers etc but i didn't know what area i was interested in etc. Well, while working a temp job at a school setting up like 100 computers and networking equipment i got the hook-up of a lifetime.
Stennis Space Center, Nicholson, MS Worked with an amazing group of people there in the IT Security group. Made lots of amazing business connections, and actually the potential to have my future schooling paid for. Financial backing is a big deal since that's the one thing that has kept me out of school thus far. Now I've got "support" you'd say, and a goal to strive for in order to obtain above mentioned financial aid.
Katrina
Oh what an experience. I remember three days after the storm being scarred to death. Having not heard from my family i could do nothing but fear the worst. I made my way down from North AL to find a destroyed gulf coast. Trees, Houses, pools, businesses, lives, families, dreams, wishes, hope all gone for some people. It was very surreal coming back to this area for the first time post-k. Found out the family was okay, which was a definate blessing, also found out that i still had my job but it was on hold for a month(paid, blessing).
Computer Infrastructure Damage Assessments
Yeah pretty fancy name if you ask me. Basicly after katrina attacked the coast my job at stennis was put on hold. At the time i wasn't sure if i was going to get to keep my job or if i was going to get paid while i was out of work, so i searched elsewhere. while digging around on a local car forum i saw a post for "computer guys" which i am. Contacted those who needed to be contacted, got a sweet gig. Here's the deal, i got to go to new orleans like 5 days after the storm. Parts of the city were still WAY under water. It was so amazing, sad, scarry, increadable, indescribeable, peaceful, quiet. An ENTIRE CITY brought to its knees by a storm. Brought further than its knees, an entire city FACE DOWN!! Military everywhere, guns, checkpoints, water, glass, shopping carts, TVs, beer, food, guns, soldiers, super dome, convention center, vw golf, weird co worker, amazing money, amazing opportunity, amazing story for my children.
New Friends
Xanga is a funny thing. It's taken on a HUGE role in the lives of many. I have met some of the most amazing, loyal, trustworthy, fun, goofy, strange, unique, happy, sad, emotional, busy, calm, crazy, random, spur of the moment group of friends i could ever imagine. Man, the last 3-4 months of my life have been amazing. God's introduced some amazing folks in my life. Camping, rock climbing, singing, dancing, posing, that move that "always makes em look", k-mart, hotel hunting, the jamison, truck stops, waffle houses, rose, drama, haunted schools, long drives, long talks, short trips.
Now here we are
Closing of an old year, a very fast paced year. A year that will, in more than one way, shape, form, reason, go into the history books. A year that we will not soon forget, if ever. A year that has had such an impact on my life, yet it's just a year.
I want to thank everyone who had a part in my year. If next year is 1/10 as fun as this year, i will be pleased. Let's keep it real guys, get back to your roots, God's a cool guy, this year i think i'm going to work on my dependency on him. I've become quite self-dependent as of late.
My "creative" juices are spent, Love you guys.
